Welcome to our Farm

Nature knows best

Our Core Ideals

Work with Nature

Buzz words abound: permaculture, regenerative ag, organic farming, indigenous practices. Regardless of labels, farming should HELP our ecosystem.

Community Sufficiency

Self sufficency is a myth, but with community we can all thrive. Shop local, eat local, mutual aid and barter.

Minimize Waste

We buy as little as possible, and build closed systems whenever possible. One project's waste is another's fuel.

Giving Back

Sharing and helping others is essential. Everyone should be able to grow and preserve their own food. We can help!

Our Farm

The farm is about 50 acres of pine plantation in the Adirondack foothills.  We have repaired the gorgeous old bank barn, and started a kitchen garden.  We have meat rabbits raised in colony to promote natural behaviors, a delightful laying flock that roams the barnyard, a cranky old Quarter Horse, and his pet donkeys.

We have quite a few goals for the farm. First is developing a silvopasture system for livestock.  This will include planting native and useful trees through our planned pasture, providing shade, and food for us and livestock, while allowing grass to grow beneath.  Second is closing loops, which means using as few outside inputs (such as pelleted feed and bagged bedding) as possible, and reusing waste from projects (such as manure and deadfall) to fuel others.  Third is introducing more diversity and natives throughout the property, ensuring a healthy local ecosystem.

Our Story

LeeAnna grew up on a hobby farm, raised in 4h and always had animals.  John shared her love for animals, and has always enjoyed nature.  We spent several years focusing on careers and starting our family before realizing that we needed more space, more nature, in our lives.  After years of searching, we finally found our *perfect* property in 2021.  We wanted room for the kids to play, to bring LeeAnna’s horse back home, and to grow our own food.  And we wanted to bring family with us. Since finding our farm, both of our children have flourished.  We love watching them grow up with an abundance of nature right in their backyard.  Even better, LeeAnna’s mom now has a residence on the property, and her sister was able to purchase a farm right next door, Dandelion Homestead.  We love being able to help each other and collaborate on projects.

We’re all committed to making our farm into a valuable addition to our local community, wildlife, and ecosystem while feeding our family and friends high quality, abundant, fresh food.
